About Yoga

Yoga is increasingly being recommended by health and medical experts as a safe and effective form of exercise that benefits all ages and stages of life. It works on the whole body promoting physical and emotional health and well being. It tones the body building strength, stamina and flexibility. It quietens the mind releasing tension and stress.

Yoga can act as both a preventative and a cure. It helps to manage arthritis, asthma, back pain, blood pressure, chronic fatigue, depression and stress.

ABout Me

My name is Alison Genet and I qualified through Yoga Scotland (National Governing Body for Yoga in Scotland) in 2001 and have loved teaching ever since. In 2004, I gained my teaching certificate, through the BWY, to Teach Children Yoga. My qualifications and training are accredited by the National Sports Council and, as such, entitles me to become a member of the Register of Exercise Professionals1 at Advanced Instructor Level (3). I have also completed the Sports Leadership Courses TOP Play/TOP Sport and Sportability2. I am an active member of the Child Protection Committee for Yoga Scotland and was responsible for drawing up their Child Protection Policy.

For 11 years, in addition to my yoga teaching, I worked in childcare and education advising and supporting on matters relating to the curriculum and aspects of management of childcare centres. In late 2005, as a natural progression to my career and everything I loved, I decided to take yoga into schools to enable children to access yoga as a safe means to a healthier and fitter lifestyle.
